Why Northerners Should Vote For Tinubu – Tanko Yakassai
As Nigeria moves closer to the next general election, a prominent statesman of northern extraction, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai has asked northerners in the country to vote massively for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu in the forthcoming election.
The ninety eight years old Yakassai made the call why playing host to the team of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu Support Group, AATSG, in his house.
Led by the national deputy chairman, Hajiya Ummi Tanko Yakassai, in the absence of the national chairman, Otunba Abayomi Odunowo, who was unavoidably absent, AATSG visited the elder statesman to familiarise him with the activities of the group to ensure the emergence of Tinubu as the next president of Nigeria.
Hajiya Zarah Bukar, the National Women Leader of AATSG introduced the team to the Elder statesman who then disclosed that he had already made his mind to support Tinubu because he came to him first to seek his support.
He further stated that though the PDP presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku is his brother, all northerners should vote for Tinubu to return the massive support Tinubu gave President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 and 2019.
He said it was time to reciprocate the gesture by northerners to elect Tinubu as president.
He said, “The north should support Tinubu for president. He has done his part by supporting Buhari in 2015 and 2019. It’s our turn to reciprocate the good gesture. I have have pledged my support because he came to me first.
Even though Atiku is my brother, it is Tinubu I support. Without him, it would have been impossible for Buhari to be president. Northerners are known for equity and justice. It is only right to support Tinubu for president.
“I know him as a good person and I believe he will make a great president.
The elder statesman further outlined that his support is hinged on good conscience for the role played by Asiwaju in supporting Buhari to become President and that now it is the turn for all Northerners with good conscience to support the aspiration of Tinubu to become the next President of Nigeria.
