To Governor Ibikunle Amosun (Fca): I am coming Home – Maiyegun
My warmest greetings to your Excellency Gov. Ibikunle Amosun, executive governor of Ogun state. A bit of introduction of myself Sir: my name is Olusola Badero, popularly known as “Maiyegun General”. I am a citizen of Ogun state; an Ijebu man. I live in Glasgow United Kingdom. I am a young politician with large followings in our state, Ogun, Nigeria and all over the world. I am a member of Green Party of Nigeria in Ogun state.
That brief introduction is to guide you into reading my next few lines to understand the purpose of this letter (if it ever gets to you). I have been away from Ogun state in the past 6 years – but not away from the happenings in the state and the government. I have been a very vocal critic of your government and your way of governance both online and offline; you don’t know me (personally) but you’ve heard of me very very well. Now I am coming home to see things for myself, engage with my people and take it fully up with you and others on leadership, citizens and responsibilities.
My homecoming and political engagement/activities during this period is not to undermine your authority or embarrass your government, but to put to task the responsibility of the citizens to challenge their government in doing the right thing, always. Maybe for the first time sir, your government will have citizens-government engagement in its truest sense and our state will be better for it. Maybe by engaging the citizens to ask critical questions that must be answered with critical facts. Be glad to engage us and give us adequate protection within the state to exercise this constitutional duty within the state. It is our right and it is your duty to protect us. Ogun state is peaceful and we have no intention of causing any form of disturbances that will infringe on the rights of others while exercising ours.
We can assure you that our members will coordinate themselves in the most orderly manner you’ve ever seen. Ours is not a group of brigands or ignorant lot. We are the emerging leaders in the polity, driven by the determination to change the way we play politics in our Clime.
My party, Green Party of Nigeria and the young Federalists of Federalist Movement of Nigeria and others are putting together an event to welcome me back after long time advocating for them across the seas, it is in this respectable position I want to inform you of this upcoming ground shaking historical event in Abeokuta Ogun state. I will drive into Abeokuta in the morning of August 14, 2018 with my people, Ogun state people will welcome me with as much fanfare as they can muster, your Excellency, my visit is political and must be respected by every legitimate mean. The police, SSS and other security agencies of government in the state will be put on alert of my visit. My party has done that already through writing.
Finally Sir, you are also invited (if by any chance) to the event. It will help dispel my personal perception or in fact believe that you old politicians are just bunch of deceivers and greedy men who will never relinquish power to the younger generation of emerging leaders even if they are qualified and deserving. You are invited anyway.
I am coming to encourage our people to disengage from the old order and join hands together in making Ogun Gateway to the future. The future they must all build today and not the one they’ve been promised but never delivered for decades.
Ours is a completely different political ideology that is devoid of violence or asslicking.
