Ritualists Kidnap 13 Day-old Baby Beside Sleeping Mother In Ondo State. Report says suspected ritualists have allegedly kidnapped a 13 day-old baby at Uro Quarters of Ajowo in Akoko Northwest local government area of Ondo state

Radio Nigeria gathered that the development which had thrown the town into confusion happened in the night when two masked men entered the house when the nursing mother had slept off.

It was also learnt that an elderly woman who woke up possibly to rescue the child was macheted by the hoodlums and youths in the community had embarked on combing bushes to recover the abducted child.

A neighbour who spoke in confidence said there was no mutual love between the couple whose child was stolen.

The monarch of Uro-Ajowa, Oba Ade Ipinmoroti was not in town when the incident happened but the Divisional Police Officer(DPO) in charge of the area, Mr Adetaranmi Ibitayo, confirmed the incident.

According to him, he personally visited the scene of the incident at Ajowa Akoko.

He said police have started investigation and will get to the route of the matter

It would be recalled that by this time of last year an Okada rider from Ajowa-Akoko was killed by his friend at Ikaram-Akoko farm with hammer and later cut his head with cutlass for rituals.

Also,four persons had been killed by ritualists at Ikare and Okeagbe-Akoko this year.

The Akala of Ikaram-Akoko, Oba Andrew Momodu said local vigilantes should be given incentives and orientation to complement efforts of security agents as many of them are hunters who were familiar with the terrain and the hideout of the criminals in their localities.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident and explained that the hoodlums gained entrance into the building through the backdoor around 1am

Mr Joseph also confirmed that the father of the abducted baby and the mother are living separately

The PPRO however said, police from the command had commenced investigation while dectectives have been on the trail of the criminals to rescue the young baby from their captives.
