Olota honours Cash Madam with Iya Oba chieftaincy title
Amidst pomp and pageantry, history was on Tuesday made in the ancient Ota town, Ogun State when a philanthropist per excellence, business tycoon and the Iyasuna of Ogun State, Alhaja ( Chief ) Mrs Khadijat Kuburat Adebisi Edionseri ( a.k.a Cash Madam) was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Iya Oba of Ota, Aworiland by the Olota of Ota, His Royal Majesty, Oba ( Professor) Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege.
Chief ( Mrs) Edionseri, a pious muslin and an acclaimed community leader whose activities over the years have brought succour to many people, both within and outside the country, was honoured in recognition of her philanthropy and impactful contributions to the socio – economic development of Ogun State in particular and Nigeria in general.
While presenting her with the chieftaincy title, Oba Obalanlege pointed out that the unique Iya Oba chieftaincy title was being bestowed on Alhaja (Chie Mrs Edionseri in recognition of her impacts on the Nigerian society through genuine and relentless efforts aimed at the positive transformation of the well – being of the Nigerian citizens.
” We all realise Cash Madam Edionseri’s noble contributions to the over – all development of Ogun State and Nigeria in general, more so that she has been one of the moving forces of socio – economic development in Africa and that is why the Olota – in – council, all sons and daughters of Ota, Aworiland, home and abroad, found her worthy of the honour”, stated the Olota.
In his own remarks, an Ota kingmaker and the Ekerin or Ota, Aworiland, High Chief Bamgboye Osunlabu, described Alhaja Edionseri as a philanthropist who believes that ” giving is living’, and that her ability to give without any reservation resulted in her being christened ‘ Cash Madam’, adding that she had over the last 50years supported various good humanitarian causes like hospital projects, religious projects and educational development projects in colleges and universities, among many others.
” Records have it that so far, over 1000 deprived youths have benefited from scholarship schemes she initiated for primary, secondary and university education and also, about 185 others have been sponsored for postgraduate studies within and outside Nigeria.”, High Chief Osunlabu said.
While reacting to the glowing tributes, Alhaja Edionseri gave praises to God and thanked the Olota and the entire sons and daughters of Ota for the honour, stressing that her acceptance of the honour was hinged on the monumental changes and transformation the Olota had brought to the town since his installation five years ago.
She further noted that the past five years of Oba Obalanlege’s reign had been a period of visionary leadership and milestone achievements, which had impacted positively on the quality of life and economy of the people and Ota, Aworiland generally.
The event witnessed the convergence of traditional rulers, religious leaders, senior government officials, captains of industry, members of the political class and prominent Ogun State indigenes, among others.
In honour and recognition of her service to humanity, Alhaja Edionseri had at various times been appointed Matron of several associations and clubs, as well as bestowed with several chieftaincy titles, which include ‘Iyasuna of Yewaland’, ‘Iyaloja of Yewaland’ , ‘Iyaloja of Egbaland’, ‘Iyasuna of Egbaland’ and ‘ Iyasuna of Ogun State’, among others.
