Ogun State Green Party flag off Adjudge the most peaceful. It was fanfare, pomp and pageantry at the Ogun east senatorial flag off of Green party. Ogun State Green Party flag off Adjudge the most peaceful of Nigeria which took place recently at Simeon Gbadebo playground Iperu in Ikenne local government area of Ogun. The event which featured handing over of party flag to all the candidates of Green party in Ogun east senatorial district, endorsement and goodwill messages by important personalities and music performances by by various bands, group and a climaxing performance by popular hip hop artist slim case.
The candidates who received their party flags from the national chairman and presidential candidate of the party include Otunba Abayomi Odunwo aka Yomi Cash for Governor of Ogun state, Akintunde Temitope Armstrong for senator Ogun east, Abimbola Majekodunmi Onakoya for senator Ogun central, Adetunji Idowu Mohammed aka T.black for House of Representatives ijebu central federal constituency, Olugbenga Muhammed Olooto for house of representatives Ijebu North/Ijebu East/ Ogun Waterside federal constituency, Kayode Shogbetun for Remo federal constituency, Ayannuga Olugbenga Paul aka Oluayan1 for Odogbolu constituency, Otunba Adedayo Alatishe for Ijebu Ode constituency, Adelaja Bowale for Ijebu Northeast constituency, Kehinde Adebajo for Ijebu North 1 constituency, Alaran Olalekan for Ijebu East constituency, Olufemi Sanni for Ogun Waterside constituency, Adedayo Adeyemi for Ikenne constituency, Abiodun Ojoye for Remo North constituency, Joseph Olusola Ogunleye aka Freshness for Sagamu constituency 1 and Shokoya Olatunji Kehinde for Sagamu constituency 2.
In his goodwill message, Prophet Gbadebo of the Celestial Church of Christ Okiki Imole said he doesn’t usually endorse politicians publicly, but because of the quality of candidates put forward by Green party of Nigeria, it will be against good conscience not to give them public endorsement. He spoke particularly about how well trained the party’s senatorial candidate Akintunde Temitope Armstrong is, having been brought up in the fear of the Lord and ever since he has grown to be his own man, he has continued to exhibit the fear of God and care for humanity in his dealings with everyone.
On his party, the national chairman and presidential candidate of the party, Dr Sam Eke expressed his delight in having to flag off Ogun state campaign of Green party in the local government area of his mentor late Chief Obafemi Awolowo. He said he insisted on the choice of the local government for flag of because late chief Obafemi Awolowo is a man of many firsts and just like him Green party of Nigeria is a party of many firsts one of which is producing the first female national secretary of an political party since Nigeria’s independence. And as part of the many firsts, Green party of Nigeria Will reshape the political landscape of Ogun state with a lot of people oriented programs its candidates have started working on even before getting into office.
The governorship candidate of the party Otunba Abayomi Odunowo aka Yomi Cash noted while collecting his flag, that he will not use roads, water, hospitals and light as a campaign promise because those are already part of the statutory duties of government and he will make sure they are naturally well taken care of to ensure optimal service delivery. But he will rather promise giving education loans to Ogun students and turn Ogun state to the next technology hub by building technology incubation centers across the 20 local government areas of the state. He also promised to look into the housing deficits in the state and also make Ogun the first state in the nation to enjoy 24hours uninterrupted electricity.
The event climaxed with music performance by the Otunba Lamba, popular hip hop artist slim case who thrilled party faithful with several of his hit tracks. A cross section of the people who spoke to us after the event expressed their delight in the hitch free hosting of the event despite their initial speculations. According to them, all the other political parties who have come to host events in Iperu town before now, have had their events abruptly ended or marred by violence, but gave kudos to Green party of Nigeria for it’s successful organization and hosting of the flag off without incidents.
While responding to questions from our correspondent, the state party chairman engr Akintunde Olawoyin expressed his sincere gratitude to Almighty God, party leaders, candidates and members for the successful hosting of the flag off and enjoined all Ogun indigenes and residents to vote massively for all candidates of Green party in the upcoming elections on the 16th of February and 2nd of March respectively as this is the only way to a safe and secured future in Ogun state.
