NIGERIAN veteran actor Ignis Ekwe, known for popular 80s and 90s soaps such as Everyday People, Behind the Clouds, and CockCrow at Dawn has passed on.
The actor, scriptwriter and university lecturer was reported to have died on Monday, after a brief illness. His death was confirmed by his daughter, Susan Emike Ekwe, who is also a singer with stage name Harmonee.
His niece, popular Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede, also took to Instagram to mourn her late uncle.
Ekwe was from Fuga, Edo state and graduated from the Department of Theatre Arts, the University of Benin in 1982. During his lifetime, he also starred in blockbuster movies like ‘Igodo’, ‘The Price’ and many more Nollywood movies.
