Mrs Folashade Tinubu Ojo did not order the closure of trade fair market. Our attention has been drawn to a malicious fake news being circulated by disgruntled elements and sympathizers of the opposition, saying that the Iyaloja general of Nigeria, Mrs Folashade Tinubu Ojo has ordered the closure of the international trade fair complex in Ojo.
We wish to state categorical that at no time did Mrs Folashade Tinubu Ojo give such order and that the reason for the closure has nothing to do with her, but bothers on the fact that occupiers have been owing the federal government rents on the said space for several years. And the government has served them several notices and reminders before now, but the traders there refused to yield to all the entreaties of the federal government, therefore the need for the closure.
The statement by the fake news peddler relating the closed market to fall out of the last general elections clearly shows the bias of the write up as being the hand work of sponsored agents of the PDP, who have resorted to character assassination to curry sympathy towards their cause. While we will not dignify their shallowness with long response, let it be known clearly that Mrs Folashade Tinubu Ojo who is the permanent chairman Lagos state Markets board is a detribalized Nigerian who holds professionalism and equal opportunity for all as a watchword.
Therefore, while it is the right of those who lose an election and feel aggrieved to seek redress in the court of competent jurisdiction, it will be a disservice to the peace and prosperity of Lagos state in Particular and Nigeria in general to fan the embers of ethnic distrust and hatred that may lead to violence in not controlled just to achieve personal aims.
The peace and prosperity of Lagos state is our collective responsibility, let’s not slaughter it on the alter of ethnic jingoism and political avarice.
