Keke driver foiled abduction of two siblings in Anambra School

A commercial tricyclist (Keke driver), whose name was not ascertained, on Tuesday, foiled an attempted abduction of two children, who are siblings when he raised alarm at a market in Nawfia, Anambra State, over the alleged abduction of the children.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the siblings, who were less than ten years of age, were abducted from an undisclosed school in Nawfia, Njikoka local government area during their graduation ceremony.
A woman, Mrs Obiageli, who disclosed the rescue of the two siblings to our correspondent, said she was coming back from work in a commercial bus when she was attracted by a crowd at the market and was compelled to stop.
She said the Keke driver narrated how he was flagged down by the suspect, together with the little kids, but later became suspicious when the suspect suddenly asked the siblings to change their school uniform to clothes he brought out from a bag he was carrying.
Mrs Obiageli said the kids also narrated how they were lured by the suspected Keke driver with biscuits before requesting they accompany him to an undisclosed destination.
She said, “The Keke driver said as soon as he got to the Afo Nawfia market, he stopped and raised the alarm which attracted traders and other passersby and they descended on him (the suspected kidnapper) mercilessly.”
Our correspondent gathered that men of the Nigeria Police, Nawfia division, however, arrived while the suspect was being beaten by the crowd and whisked him away.
The abductions of children in Anambra schools has become rampant with two previous cases reported in the last two weeks, prompting the Anambra State police command to raise alarm over the anomaly.
The PPRO, of Anambra State police command, SP Mohammed Haruna, however, could not confirm the arrest of the suspect. Mohammed told our correspondent that he has not been briefed by the division, as such would not confirm the arrest.
