Atiku may miss presidential debate – Secondus. Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar may after all be absent from today’s Presidential debate.
The party’s national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus gave this indication in Abuja on Friday at the inauguration of 27 standing committees of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation (PPCO). Secondus who was elated by Atiku’s trip to the United States told the gathering that the Presidential candidate will be returning back to the country on Saturday.
Recall that the Presidential Debate for candidates of the 7 selected political parties are expected to intimate Nigerians with their Programmes and party’s manifestoes. Secondus said “Our Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar is in the United States now.
This is an attestation to the fact that Atiku is clean and does not have any criminal charge in America “He will be meeting with members of the Nigerian community, the American business community and the United States government officials.
“He will return back to the country on Sunday”. Should he miss the debate, it will dampen the spirit of numerous PDP supporters who have been deriding the APC candidate, President Buhari of planning to tactically avoid the debate. The PDP National Chairman knock the aides of the President which he called ” the cabals ” for over stressing President Buhari, warning that they should not over stretched the health condition if the President. He said “we are pained about the way the cabal is mounting pressure on the President.
You are aware of what happened in Kogi; you are aware of what happened during the interview. You can see that the President is under stress, he is under immense pressure from the leadership of the APC. “The analysis is very straight! Do they want to kill the President?
Because they are over working him and you can see the mistakes all over. That interview was a national disgrace. “What happened in Warri yesterday was another national disgrace. No wonder we are not respected in the comity of nations. And when we say the truth, they say it is hate speech. “But some leaders of APC in 2015 could look at our President Jonathan and they will say he was clueless.
It is there in the records. They will look at a man with PhD and call him clueless. “Why are they now accusing us of hate speech for calling President Buhari incompetent. It is obvious that Nigeria does not need an incompetent President in this 21st century “, he said.
Speaking about the PDP candidate, he said ” Nigerian public should know so that from now, they can see the clear difference between an energetic and competent candidate ready to become the President with a lot to offer, to turn around the economy of our country in the person of the Waziri of Adamawa, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and one who has nothing to offer.
“You can hear Atiku clearly. He has the rhetorics, the articulation. He can communicate, he can engage. So he is going to engage world leaders to bring honour and dignity to our country. “Shame on the leaders of the APC. Why can’t Buhari behave like Mandela? One term is enough. If he is doing this way like we are seeing in the videos, what will happen in the next four years? It will be a complete, absolute disaster.
Secondus charged members of the committees to work round the clock to ensure the emergence of Atiku and other candidates seeking election on the platform of the party in the coming elections. He said the party’s reward system has changed because the leadership of the party will recognise only those that work for the success of the party will be recognised for reward. “If you don’t win your polling unit, you will not be recognised and rewarded”, he said.
Responding on behalf of chairmen of the committees, Chief Onyeama Ugochukwu promised that members will make necessary sacrifice for the party’s success. Ugochukwu said “we will consider it a privilege to have been invited to a great task of rescuing our country at this point of our national life”.
