NANS backs Green Party senatorial candidates in Ogun. The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has thrown its weight behind candidates aspiring for the senatorial seats of Ogun east and Ogun central under the Green Party.
The National Public Relations Officer of NANS, Adeyemi Azeez, said in a statement that the body took the decision after its emergency executive/stakeholders meeting.
The candidates are Comrade Temitope Akintunde Armstrong, Ogun East and Abimbola Majekodunmi Onakoya, Ogun Central.
According to NANS, the said candidates have remarkably served the organisation with worthy and enviable accumulated records of achievements.
The statement read in part, “For reference purpose, Comrade TEMITOPE AKINTUNDE Armstrong was the first president of NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF OGUN STATE STUDENTS that fought and mobilised local government bursaries across the 20local govt in Ogun state.
“It was during his days as president of national association of ogun state students that some academically excellent indigenous students of Ogun state got free sessional hostel accommodations across campuses of higher learning in Ogun state.
“Also, it was during his tenure as president that the indigenous students of Ogun state got access to free notebooks and textbooks coupled with free tutorial classes to equip them ahead of exams.
“However, history will also not forgive NANS, if we fail to appreciate the unrelenting efforts of Comrade Mrs ABIMBOLA MAJEKODUNMI Onakoya, a former director of Gender NANS national, who ensured during her days as NANS that some offices at the NANS national are automatically reserved for the females.
“NANS also taught expedient to appreciate Mrs ABIMBOLA MAJEKODUNMI for her recent empowerment and students supports programme held across the higher institutions of learning within ogun central senatorial district.
“No doubt, this programme had obviously re awaken the hopes of Nigerian students, that a luxurious life if possible beyond certificate.
“We Herby implore to continue on her BSC ( Beyond School Certificate) programme organise to train Nigerian students vocationally, thereby making them self sufficient while in school and after”.
NANS however called on Nigerian students and Nigerians at large to as a matter of developmental interest rally round supports and cast there votes for the Green Party candidates during the Saturday National Assembly election.
